Why do we use recycled paper loo rolls & towels?

We use ‘naked sprout’ recycled paper items.

They have a new solar powered state of the art recycling facility!

This information is from their website:

Until recently, waste paper from businesses was a plentiful resource. Now more work is done online, so there’s less paper around, and our toilet rolls and towels are made from waste cardboard.

Card is collected from local supermarkets & businesses and also extracted from unsorted waste that starts like this pile in the photo

By using local waste the carbon costs of transport are low and can be calculated accurately.

Separated card is baled and pulped, ready to be taken to the nearby factory and made into new rolls!   We use recycled paper goods as this reduces the amount of energy and raw materials needed, and keeps valuable resources out of landfill.

Please let one of the Church Wardens or Eco/gardening team know if you have any comments regarding the recycled products we use or if you would like us to try other sustainable materials here at Christ Church!
